In 2016, I made the life-changing decision to relocate from Venezuela to the United States, driven by one profound aspiration: to create a better future for my family. However, this path was far from effortless. When I arrived, I found myself with limited funds and an unfamiliarity with the English language. Despite these obstacles, I refused to be deterred.

Initially, my financial situation was precarious, as I owed a friend $180, which constituted my entire savings. I toiled diligently, earning a mere $300 per month. It was an arduous endeavor, as I struggled to afford even the basic necessities, grappling with rent payments and relying on borrowed money for fuel. On occasions, I even resorted to walking to work due to the inability to afford transportation. There were days when purchasing groceries seemed impossible, leading me to depend on the generosity of the restaurant where I worked for sustenance.

Yet, surrendering was not an option. Determined to alter my circumstances, I sought out three different jobs and pushed myself to enhance my situation. I undertook the challenge of self-teaching English, fully aware of the difficulties that lay ahead. Despite the obstacles, my resolve remained unwavering.

In 2020, at the age of 22, I embarked on a remarkable endeavor - purchasing my first home. However, the process was far from straightforward, as I encountered significant hurdles in finding a real estate agent who would take me seriously. Disregarding my concerns and budgetary constraints seemed to be the norm. Nevertheless, I remained undeterred.

With a modest sum of $5,000 in my bank account, I embarked on an exhaustive search for the perfect home. A video enlightened me to the fact that as a buyer, I would not be responsible for paying the agent; that onus would rest with the seller. This newfound knowledge revolutionized my perspective.
