Reasons Why you Should Never Buy or Sell Without an Agent

Guest Blog By: Lisa Roberts
You wake up one morning and decide that it is time for a change – you want to buy or sell a home. You open your smart device and start checking the listings before hitting the road and looking at houses or before putting your own home on the market. You are trying to ‘DIY’ this real estate thing, aren’t you? Please do not do it! You might think that you can make it work on your own, but if you do not want to make one of the worst financial decisions in your life, you really shouldn’t. When buying or selling a home, you need somebody who has done this before, who will serve as a ninja-negotiator and ensure you get the best possible price. That somebody is a professional real estate agent! However, if you are not persuaded yet, keep on reading as we will share some reasons why you should never buy or sell without an agent.
Knowledge is Power; Little Knowledge is Not!
You have heard of the saying ‘ Knowledge is Power’, and that saying is absolutely true. Moreover, you are now probably thinking that the world is at your fingertips and that with the power of technology, you can gain any information you might need for buying or selling a home. Are we right? But, when it comes to real estate, do you have little or a lot of knowledge?
‘Little knowledge is not power; it is your biggest weakness!’
If you think you have the knowledge, try answering the following questions – how will you maximize the sale of your house, what is the real value of your home, are you currently in the seller’s or the buyer’s market? These are just 3 out of a thousand questions your real estate agent has the answer to. But, do you have the answer?

Are You a Trained Problem-Solver?
Imagine having bought the house of your dreams. The only thing left now is to search sites like USA Moving Reviews and find the moving company that suits your needs and budget. But, this is usually not how the story goes. Once you start unpacking, you will probably notice many things that are wrong with your new home. You might find termites in the attic, mold in the basement, and who knows what else. Moreover, what if you are selling a home with some bad features – what will you do to prevent potential buyers from just running away?
You probably do not have answers to these questions. It is not expected of you to solve all of these problems if you do not have experience and skills in real estate. Only a professional agent can help you save yourself from an awful purchase and sell your home that is in an undesirable condition. Only a good real estate agent can Fix these kinds of problems and do the impossible.
How is Your Network Exposure?
As mentioned before, we all live in the age of technology now. Whether you want to buy a home or sell it, you will have to start online. For instance, you will have to broadcast your home across numerous websites and social media accounts to reach all potential buyers – both local and international ones. Moreover, you can’t just post your ad and hope for the best, no. You will have to work on your analytics and digital marketing too!
‘Only an experienced and skilled real state agent will be able to make your property go viral in just a few moments.’
Thus, if you do not have this kind of knowledge, that is, if you are not familiar with marketing and digital exposure, leave this job to the professionals. In a couple of minutes, they will be able to do something you have been trying for days or even weeks.

What About Your Connections?
A thing that is even more important than network exposure is being connected to the right people. This applies to almost everything! For instance, let us go back to moving – how can you be sure that you will not be another victim of a moving scam? That is, how can you be safe during a relocation process? The only way to be sure about something like that is to find a moving company recommended by somebody you absolutely trust. And, those people you trust are your connections!
Now, ask yourself – do you have those kinds of connections in the real estate world? Are you friends with inspectors, buyer’s agents, seller’s agents, market analytics, contractors, etc.? These are all the people who should always be on your speed dial if you plan to buy or sell a home. If they are not, well, you know whom to turn to.

Are You a Good Negotiator?
Last but certainly not least question is whether you are a good negotiator. Negotiating skills are an absolute must in the real estate world. We are not saying that you will not be able to buy or sell a home without negotiation. What we are saying is that you may lose a lot of your money.
A real estate agent is the only one who knows how to negotiate that perfect price. They are the only ones that will sell your home quickly and for the best possible price, as well as the only ones who will help you find your new home that suits all your needs and budget.
Bottom Line
We hope that all the reasons mentioned above help you understand how important a real estate agent is and why you should never buy or sell without an agent. Not even if you are selling in a seller’s market. It does not matter whether you plan on buying or selling a home. An experienced and skilled agent will do everything much more quickly, safely, and affordably.
